Prince Moulay El Hassan Inaugurates Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat
By Order of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan inaugurated the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Thursday, following reconstruction works that upgraded this prestigious sports infrastructure to FIFA 2030 standards.
The newly reconstructed stadium, developed in accordance with the Royal High Directives aimed at equipping the Kingdom with world-class sports infrastructure in preparation for major international events—including the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup—has been designed to meet the rigorous demands of elite sporting competitions.
A true architectural marvel, this stadium embodies modernity, sustainability, and connectivity, built entirely by Moroccan expertise while adhering to the highest international standards.
The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium features a state-of-the-art hybrid natural turf system, the first of its kind in Africa, combining natural grass with synthetic fibers to provide an optimal surface for drainage, durability, rapid recovery, player safety, and performance.
With a total capacity of 68,700 seats, the stadium includes premium amenities and three tiers of hospitality spaces: 110 luxury suites, five hospitality lounges accommodating approximately 5,400 seats, and dedicated accessibility provisions for individuals with reduced mobility.
This ultra-modern sports complex also houses an expansive media center for print and broadcast journalists, equipped with comprehensive technical and logistical resources.
The stadium’s redevelopment included the construction of five engineered access structures and six parking facilities to streamline entry.
Upon arrival at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan reviewed an honor guard from the Royal Guard before receiving greetings from the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports; the Delegate Minister to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget and President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation; the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region and Governor of Rabat Prefecture; the President of the Regional Council; and representatives of the local civil authorities.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was also welcomed by the Director of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency, the Regional Director of Health and Social Protection, the Director-General of Société Générale des Travaux du Maroc, the Director-General of the National Agency for Public Equipment, and the project’s lead architects.
