Orange Maroc signs a strategic partnership with Ericsson

Orange Maroc announced on Thursday, June 5, the signing of a strategic agreement with Ericsson to modernize and extend its core network. This unprecedented alliance “fully aligns with Orange Maroc’s vision to offer ultra-high-performance connectivity, in preparation for the launch of 5G and in line with the objectives of the Maroc Digital 2030 strategy,” the operator said in a statement.

This collaboration, it is specified, will enable Orange Maroc to integrate advanced technologies, including the dual mode 5G Core and Ericsson’s Cloud Native Infrastructure Solution, optimized for hosting 5G cloud-native applications. This modernization will increase the operator’s network capacity and improve customer experience, while allowing Orange Maroc to build a scalable network architecture in view of the introduction of 5G.

Thanks to this strategic partnership, the Moroccan subsidiary of the French operator will introduce the “Ericsson Cloud Core Policy Controller,” thus ensuring high scalability, better network resilience, and new economic models. The telecommunications operator will also expand its network with additional IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and Ericsson Packet Core sites to strengthen Voice over LTE (VoLTE) services and provide highly reliable 4G and 5G services, such as enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), gaming, and industrial connectivity services.

Moreover, the modernization also includes improving automation and orchestration of the cloud-native infrastructure through upgrades to Ericsson Network Manager, Orchestrator, and Network IQ Statistics software already used by Orange Maroc to orchestrate its network.
