OCP Nutricrops crosses the milestone of 5 million tons of TSP
Driven by the SBU Manufacturing in collaboration with OCP Nutricrops, OFAS, and JESA, the TSP Hub transforms existing capacities and lays the foundations for a more precise fertilizer production tailored to current agronomic requirements.
Launched at the Jorf Lasfar industrial platform, the TSP Hub stands out as a key lever in the industrial transformation of OCP Nutricrops. Combining increased capacity and operational flexibility, this strategic program meets the challenges of modern, demanding, and personalized agriculture by providing fertilizer production adapted to the varied and growing market needs, according to a statement.
Led by the SBU Manufacturing in collaboration with OCP Nutricrops, OFAS, and JESA, the TSP Hub transforms existing capabilities and establishes the groundwork for more precise fertilizer production adapted to current agronomic demands. It relies on a flexible industrial process allowing precise integration of nutrients and additives, meeting the specific needs of farmers for their soils and crops. This technology offers industrial agility and speed in producing new customized formulas, adds the same source.
With the commissioning of the first two lines, each with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons, OCP Nutricrops’ equivalent TSP production now exceeds 5 million tons. TSP (Triple Super Phosphate), a concentrated phosphate fertilizer, contains more than 90% phosphorus immediately available to plants, making it particularly suitable for deficient soils and fertilizer strategies based on the 4R principles (right source, right rate, right time, right place). To reach a new level, an ambitious program is currently underway to adapt nitrogen fertilizer production units. This key project aims to integrate new equipment and modify existing installations to enable them also to produce TSP. This scaling-up will allow OCP Nutricrops to reach an installed annual capacity of more than 7 million tons of TSP by the end of 2025, thus optimizing its industrial assets to efficiently meet the growing demand for phosphate fertilizers.
“The TSP Hub represents a major step in our phosphate fertilizer production strategy. It consolidates our ability to provide high agronomic value fertilizers, custom-designed to meet the requirements of soils and farmers worldwide, while strengthening our precision, performance, and industrial capacity,” says Youssef El Bari, CEO of OCP Nutricrops.
“The TSP Hub embodies an industrial transformation initiated by SBU Manufacturing to meet the challenges of fertilizer customization in a context of diversified agronomic needs. It marks the emergence of an ambidextrous, agile, and customer-centered industrial model, where the production tool becomes a strategic lever. Thanks to its new organization, SBU Manufacturing is developing an increasing number of customized products adapted to more and more differentiated needs. Through this dynamic, it asserts its commitment to put industrial performance—in terms of flexibility, capacity, and adaptation—at the service of sustainable value creation,” states Ahmed Mahrou, Managing Director of SBU Manufacturing.
The launch of the TSP Hub is based on reinforced governance, with the creation of a dedicated inter-structure team for startup and optimized coordination of more than 1,200 onsite workers from all trades. The project is the result of close collaboration between OCP Group’s SBU Manufacturing, OCP Nutricrops, OFAS, and JESA. Environmentally, the TSP Hub relies entirely on the use of non-conventional waters, as part of OCP Group’s overall strategy.
