Morocco–Gabon: Strengthening cooperation in digital technology and AI
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the two countries, on the sidelines of GITEX Africa Morocco 2026, with the aim of promoting the exchange of expertise and best practices, particularly in the field of AI.
The Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and Gabon’s Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation signed a memorandum of understanding in Marrakech aimed at structuring bilateral cooperation in the fields of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
This agreement, signed on the sidelines of the 4th edition of GITEX Africa Morocco 2026, held in Marrakech from April 7 to 9, seeks to promote the exchange of expertise and best practices, particularly in AI, the ministry said in a statement.
Within this framework, both parties commit to implementing capacity-building programs and developing Gabonese skills in digital and innovation-related professions.
Through this partnership, Morocco and Gabon reaffirm their shared determination to make digital technology a lever for economic transformation and skills development, in the service of sustainable and inclusive growth, the same source noted.
On the same occasion, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, held a bilateral meeting with Gabon’s Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation, Mark-Alexandre Doumba.
This meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the strength of relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Gabonese Republic and to explore new avenues for cooperation in the fields of digital technology and AI.
Discussions focused on sharing experiences in digital transformation, developing innovation ecosystems, and exploring opportunities for collaboration on high-impact, structuring projects.
On this occasion, the Gabonese minister expressed his admiration for the success of the RamadanIA hackathon, organized across the Kingdom’s 12 regions, praising it as an exemplary initiative for mobilizing talent in service of local development.
