Health: UM5 and AMSD Seal Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Blood Donation

Mohammed V University of Rabat (UM5) and the Moroccan Agency for Blood and Its Derivatives (AMSD) signed, on December 5, 2025, in Rabat, a framework agreement intended to strengthen their cooperation in promoting blood donation, developing scientific research, and fostering innovation in public health, according to a statement.

This agreement formalizes a sustainable collaboration between the two institutions and defines a shared framework for projects with high social and scientific impact, the statement added.

It provides for the implementation of regular awareness campaigns on blood and plasma donation within UM5 institutions, the launch of joint research projects in the fields of transfusion, biotechnology, and immunohematology, as well as student training through internships, educational visits, and final-year projects within AMSD structures.

The statement also highlights cooperation in the areas of innovation and digitalization, in partnership with the City of Innovation, to improve the management of blood and plasma, from traceability to storage.

The two institutions also commit to mobilizing their resources to ensure the success of this partnership, with UM5 facilitating access to its infrastructure and university community, while AMSD will provide its scientific and technical expertise.

Through this agreement, both parties reaffirm their shared ambition to promote a culture of blood donation, support innovation, and contribute to the improvement of public health in Morocco, the statement concluded.
