“Grand Cold” Operation: 7,000 Households Supported in Chichaoua Province

The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity carried out, on Thursday, the distribution of aid to the benefit of 7,000 households from several communes in Chichaoua Province, as part of the “Grand Cold” Operation.

Launched from the douar of Adouz (Douirane commune), in the presence of the Governor of Chichaoua Province, Bouabid El Guerrab, and representatives of the local authorities, this operation concerns 71 douars spread across 11 territorial communes of the province.

During the first day, 675 households from five douars in the communes of Irouhlen and Douirane benefited from this operation, which will continue in areas affected by bad weather and the cold wave.

The beneficiary households received humanitarian aid consisting of basic food supplies and blankets, distributed by field teams mobilized by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity. These teams are made up of staff from the General Directorate of Social Services (DGSS) of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), as part of a sustained logistical and human effort to ensure the success of this operation.

In a statement to MAP, the Foundation’s project manager, Rachid El Badri, indicated that the Foundation has launched a humanitarian aid distribution operation for families affected by falling temperatures, particularly in mountainous areas.

This operation is being carried out in perfect coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and all stakeholders, notably local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Royal Armed Forces, he noted.

It is taking place under good conditions thanks to the mobilization of all the staff of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and those of the General Directorate of Social Services of the Royal Armed Forces, he continued, stressing that the operation will continue in the coming days in other communes in order to cover all areas affected by the cold wave.

It should be recalled that the intervention of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in the Marrakech–Safi region concerns the provinces of Al Haouz and Chichaoua, alongside similar actions carried out in several other provinces, notably Azilal and Khénifra (Béni Mellal–Khénifra region), as well as Taroudant (Souss-Massa region).

This humanitarian initiative, carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, concerns 28 provinces experiencing a sharp drop in temperatures as well as significant rainfall and snowfall, benefiting 73,000 households.
