Construction of Benslimane Stadium: The contract officially awarded to the TGCC/SGTM consortium
The contract was awarded for an amount of 3.4 billion dirhams following a call for tenders launched by the National Agency for Public Equipment.
The construction contract for the Grand Stadium of Benslimane, named Stade Hassan II, has delivered its verdict. Launched on April 9 by the National Agency for Public Equipment, the contract was won by a consortium made up of the two Moroccan construction giants, TGCC and SGTM.
The sole candidate in the running, the TGCC/SGTM consortium secured this contract for an amount of 3.4 billion dirhams. The services include major structural works, waterproofing, metal framework, coatings, false ceilings, carpentry, and painting.
The execution period for the contract is set at 30 months. The completion of the works is therefore scheduled for December 2027.
Located in Benslimane, the Grand Stade Hassan II will be the largest football stadium in the world with a capacity of 115,000 seats. This sports facility is designed by the firm Oualalou + Choi, which won the international architectural competition with its avant-garde tent-shaped project, a nod to the tradition of moussems.
Each end of the stadium will accommodate 29,500 spectators. Five hospitality levels along the main stands will offer an exclusive space for 12,000 visitors, including VVIP and VIP areas, hospitality lounges, and a royal box.
Structurally, the stadium will be covered by a large translucent aluminum roof, supported by a ring of 32 staircases, creating monumental walkways with gardens positioned on elevated platforms, each 28 meters above the ground.
The Grand Stade Hassan II is proposed to host the opening match or the final of the 2030 World Cup.
