Attijari Payment has launched into merchant acquiring activity, in the wake of regulatory developments in the payments sector in Morocco. What are the challenges for this industry?

The opening of the merchant acquiring market is a structuring step for the payment industry in Morocco. It reflects a national willingness to encourage the diversification of players, amplify innovation, and strengthen the sector’s competitiveness for the benefit of merchants and consumers.

This regulatory evolution is part of a broader dynamic led by Bank Al-Maghrib and public institutions, aiming to accelerate the digitalization of the economy and reduce dependence on cash. It creates a more open environment where collaboration, transparency, and quality of service become essential levers of differentiation.

For Attijari Payment, this transformation represents above all a collective responsibility: that of contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable ecosystem. We are committed to supporting merchants in their digital transition thanks to simple, secure, and accessible solutions, while promoting healthy and beneficial competition for the entire market.

We approach this role with humility and commitment, aware that the challenges are numerous but convinced that they open the way for new opportunities to modernize practices and strengthen trust in electronic payment in Morocco.

How is Attijari Payment positioning itself in this new market configuration? And what resources are deployed?

The electronic payments sector is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the accelerated digitalization of consumption patterns and the arrival of new players. Attijari Payment is part of this dynamic by asserting a positioning resolutely focused on innovation, security, and agility. The acceleration of our transformation has been a decisive strategic milestone, allowing us to broaden our field of action and offer high value-added solutions perfectly aligned with market expectations. This trajectory reflects our ambition to proactively and distinctively support the modernization of payment flows while consolidating the trust of the various economic players.

What does Attijari Payment’s offer consist of for Moroccan merchants and businesses? And how does it differ from those of other acquirers?

Attijari Payment’s offer is based on a global approach to payment, which goes beyond the purely technological dimension. It targets both local merchants and structured companies, offering them solutions adapted to their operational realities and development prospects.

Our mission is to support each player in their digital trajectory by providing them with reliable, modular, and scalable tools. The goal is for payment to become a lever of performance and not a constraint.

What distinguishes Attijari Payment is the combination of proven technical expertise and a deep understanding of the field. We combine technological rigor and execution agility to offer a homogeneous experience, from consulting and installation to operational monitoring and maintenance.

Our approach prioritizes proximity: constant support, active listening, and the ability to adjust our solutions to the rhythm of each activity. In an environment where innovation is accelerating, it is this continuity of service and relational depth that make the difference and strengthen the trust of our clients.

Since the launch of this activity last May, what initial feedback have you received from the field? What are the prospects?

The launch of the merchant acquiring activity has been a decisive milestone in the development of Attijari Payment. In just a few months, the momentum observed has exceeded our projections: merchants are equipping themselves, testing, sharing their experiences, and a genuine transformation dynamic is taking shape on the ground.

We deliberately opted for a progressive approach based on listening and observation. The needs of a local shop are not the same as those of a large chain or a national brand. Understanding these nuances has been essential in building a relevant offer adapted to the diversity of the economic fabric.

Our solutions now cover all uses: fixed or mobile terminals (POS), SoftPOS, online payment (PEL). They are designed to support the natural evolution of commercial practices.

But beyond the deployment of equipment, it is the adoption that stands out. Electronic payment is becoming a true management and performance tool. Merchants tell us: it brings them greater rigor, security, and visibility. A new economic reflex is emerging.
