The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication (Department of Culture) has announced the launch of the digital platform “ander.ma”, dedicated to the documentation, traceability and verification of the originality and authenticity of works of art.

This initiative follows the recommendations of working sessions held in 2024 and 2025 at the headquarters of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, with the participation of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the National Foundation of Museums (FNM), the Ministry of Justice, the General Secretariat of the Government, the High Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), the Ministry of Justice, art professionals, as well as other partner institutions, the ministry said in a statement.

This initiative is part of efforts to support the digital transformation of the cultural sector and protect artistic creation.

The digital platform relies on the direct participation of visual and fine artists to build the documentary record of their creations through “visual cataloging”, allowing photographs of works (paintings, sculptures, installations, digital creations) to be submitted, “traceability and archives”, facilitating the integration of supporting documents (exhibition catalogs, posters, invitations, press articles), as well as the deployment of a “reference database”, promoting the creation of a searchable documentary archive for cross-checking during transactions, exhibitions or the issuance of certificates of authenticity.

By linking a work to its photographs and references certified by the artist, “ander.ma” provides art galleries, auction houses and professionals with an effective art appraisal tool during sales, exhibitions or inheritances, the same source specifies.

The platform incorporates an alert and prevention system for reporting suspicious, falsified or counterfeit works, triggering a reassessment based on the archives. It thus constitutes a prevention and verification assistance tool, without replacing the scientific, technical or legal expertise required.

Designed as an evolving database, “ander.ma” will become more effective as artists contribute to it. Through the modernization of its tools and the strengthening of the legal framework on copyright, the Department of Culture reaffirms its commitment to establishing a climate of trust, protecting creators and rights holders, and ensuring transparency in the art market.
