Tourism: MAD 11.7 Nillion in Travel Receipts in January
The Foreign Exchange Office also reports a decline in remittances made by Moroccans living abroad (MRE) of 0.8%, to MAD 9.38 billion.
Travel receipts reached 11.7 billion dirhams (MAD bn) by the end of January 2026, up 19.3% compared with the same month in 2025, according to the Foreign Exchange Office.
In its latest bulletin on monthly indicators of external trade, the Office specifies that travel expenditures, for their part, rose by 2.3% to MAD 2.7 billion.
The travel balance posted a positive surplus of MAD 8.92 billion, an increase of 25.7% compared with January 2025.
The Foreign Exchange Office also reports a 0.8% decline in remittances sent by Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), to MAD 9.38 billion.
As for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Morocco, its inflow increased by 0.7% to more than MAD 3.54 billion.
