No, this is not about drawing castles in the air. Morocco is making giant strides in various fields through many structuring projects. Within five years, several of them will have come to fruition. A medley of about thirty dispatches likely to be published in 2030.
Start-up : The first Moroccan unicorn shows its horn
Tomorrow, July 18, 2030, the name of the first Moroccan start-up to have crossed the symbolic billion-dollar valuation mark will be revealed. Other national gems are on track to reach unicorn status in key sectors like fintech, agritech, and artificial intelligence.
Moroccan start-ups have been able to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in recent years to strengthen their presence in African, European, and Gulf markets. Thus, the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy, announced in 2024, has exceeded its goals, notably tripling the number of active start-ups in the country and attracting about 700 million dollars in investments.
The secret to such success? A combination of local innovation, strengthened institutional support, efficient technological hubs like those in Casablanca and Benguerir, and smoother access to international financing. This boom reveals an entrepreneurial pool that is structuring itself, industrializing, diversifying, and shaping a new generation of players.
5G : 70% of the population covered
The ambitious goal announced in 2024 has finally been reached. On March 19, 2030, the ANRT just announced a 70% 5G coverage rate in the Kingdom. Its deployment over recent years (after licenses were granted in 2025) goes far beyond improving browsing speed.
5G has optimized urban traffic, stimulated growth in smart homes, increased industrial efficiency, modernized agriculture, and transformed digital public and administrative services. A key element of this process was a strategic agreement signed at the end of March 2025 between Maroc Telecom (IAM) and Wana Corporate (inwi), aimed at accelerating the deployment of fiber optics and 5G across the country.
The 5G-dedicated joint venture, Tower Co, has so far deployed about 5,500 new towers and should install 500 more in the next three years.
“Arena Atlas” : Morocco enters the global e-sports arena
A gamer’s dream come true. On April 12, 2030, Morocco takes a decisive step with the inauguration of Arena Atlas, a state-of-the-art 5,000-seat e-sports stadium located in the heart of Rabat.
Fully adjustable, equipped with cutting-edge technology and futuristic design, this digital venue is expected to host the biggest competitions on the global stage, including an official stage of the prestigious League of Legends World Tour.
This spectacular turning point is part of a momentum launched since 2024, with the launch of MoroccoGaming Expo, the first national fair entirely dedicated to the video game industry.
This annual event, now a continental showcase of African gaming, has brought together publishers, developers, equipment manufacturers, and local talents, while revealing the growing appetite of the Moroccan public for video games in all their forms.
Two years later, in 2026, Morocco laid another stone in its digital edifice with the inauguration of the Cité du Gaming, a unique ecosystem located in Rabat on an area of 5 hectares. This technological hub houses towers grouping reception areas, development studio offices, training rooms, and start-up incubators.
