RNI: Quantified achievements against a backdrop of constant listening

Eight ministers and more than half of the members of the RNI political bureau headed, on Saturday, May 31, to the Guelmim-Oued Noun region. This was for the third stage of the “The Path of Achievements” tour. The aim was certainly to outline the gains made, both nationally and regionally, but above all to listen to the expectations of the populations.

While some political parties struggle to fill a room, the National Rally of Independents (RNI) fills a tent to capacity. Its national tour, launched on May 3 in Dakhla under the name “Tarik Al Injazat” (The Path of Achievements), is a vivid illustration. On Saturday, May 31, the leadership of the Dove party was in direct contact with the populations of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region.

This third stop did not deviate from the rule in terms of attendance. About 2,500 party militants traveled from the region’s four provinces, namely Sidi Ifni, Assa Zag, Tan-Tan, and, of course, Guelmim, the regional capital.

On this occasion, the various speakers at the podium emphasized the government’s various achievements at the national level, certainly, but with a particular focus on a region experiencing sustained development expected to be strengthened by a host of projects, especially in the social field.

Nothing surprising when considering the very philosophy of an Executive whose action is based on strengthening the foundations of the social state. The president of the RNI did not fail to refer to this in his speech.

One example among many: the commissioning this year of the medical faculty. Indeed, from 2029, about a hundred doctors from the region will be immediately operational. Their number will grow in the coming years.

Another no less significant example relates to education. Aziz Akhannouch announced another good news. It was learned that from the next school year, Guelmim-Oued Noun will be the first region in the Kingdom to experience the “generalization” of the pioneer schools program, supported by the launch of about ten pioneer colleges.

This is no small matter considering all that it requires in terms of investments, both in human resources and material aspects. But that is not all. Indeed, like other regions in the Kingdom, Guelmim-Oued Noun resembles a large open-air construction site, especially in infrastructure.

Capital of green hydrogen

Here again, examples abound, showing a tangible dynamic that directly impacts the daily lives of the populations.

For road infrastructure alone, no less than 6 billion dirhams have been invested in the road network, including 300 kilometers in rural areas. In the health sector, 600 million dirhams have been mobilized for the construction of local health centers, which add to the regional hospital.

It should also be noted that the development dynamic is expected to accelerate further, particularly with projects related to seawater desalination and the completion of the Fask dam, which will boost the agricultural sector.

Without losing sight of the renewable energy project, particularly green hydrogen. On this chapter, it is worth recalling that three of the seven approved national projects will be located in Guelmim-Oued Noun.

This will not only create thousands of jobs but will also put the entire region on the radar of potential investors. As the RNI president will emphasize, it is the face of the region that will change.

Despite these achievements, Aziz Akhannouch is among the leaders who do not rest on their laurels. “We do not come to these meetings to say that everything is fine, but to listen to you, exchange and share ideas and visions,” he said, addressing an audience as enthusiastic as attentive.

And “the government,” he stressed, “will continue its unwavering commitment” to support the launched projects. Moreover, even if the RNI leads the majority, the Head of Government, faithful to his approach, will not attribute the achievements solely to his party.

For him, the credit goes to a “government that works seriously for the general interest,” moreover supported by “a homogeneous and coherent majority.” With a single watchword: action, nothing but action, as noted by Rachid Talbi Alami, Nadia Fettah, and other members of the leadership who took turns at the podium.

For them, “politics is neither slogans nor mere words.” With such an approach, the strong will confirms the conviction that “the path of achievements” can only be enriched with new gains.

A region in full expansion

This may surprise some, but not those who palpably experience the changes in their daily lives. The Guelmim-Oued Noun region is indeed embarking on an unprecedented development momentum. Already, the indicators confirm this trend.

Indeed, the region shows an annual growth rate of 5.5%, exceeding the national average of around 3.6%. Furthermore, the GDP per capita stands at 37,900 dirhams compared to 33,000 nationally. This demonstrates that the investment effort is bearing fruit.

And this will continue. Indeed, in 2024 alone, the unified regional commission held 18 meetings where investments amounting to 12 billion dirhams were approved, expected to generate about 5,300 direct jobs. These investments cover various sectors ranging from tourism to infrastructure, including agro-food industries.
