Akhannouch: “The government has completed the program to rehabilitate 1,400 health centers”
As part of the second phase of the upgrading program, an additional 1,600 centers will be included, of which 500 will be rehabilitated in 2026, with the aim of reaching a total of 3,000 facilities nationwide.
The government has completed the implementation of the program to rehabilitate primary healthcare facilities through the reconstruction, modernization, and equipping of 1,400 health centers across the various provinces of the Kingdom, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, stated on Saturday in Al Haouz.
In a statement to the press on the occasion of the launch of services at the Aït Ourir proximity hospital and the level-two rural health center of Tazart, notably in the presence of the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui, and the governor of Al Haouz Province, Mustapha El Maaza, Mr. Akhannouch indicated that an additional 1,600 centers will be included as part of the second phase of the program, specifying that 500 centers will be rehabilitated in 2026, with the aim of reaching a total of 3,000 facilities nationwide.
He also emphasized that this program constitutes an essential first step in the care pathway, making it possible to bring healthcare services closer to citizens and improve their quality, particularly in rural and remote areas.
Mr. Akhannouch further noted that upgrading healthcare facilities, across all categories, is intended to strengthen the healthcare offering and promote territorial equity.
According to the data provided, 1,400 healthcare facilities have been rehabilitated across the Kingdom’s 12 regions, representing a total investment exceeding 6.43 billion dirhams, benefiting more than 20 million citizens in both urban and rural areas.
