Africa Day: Morocco shines in London, blending cultural pride with a continental vision
The Kingdom left a strong impression during the Africa Day celebration held on Saturday evening in London. With a remarkable presence, it showcased the richness of its cultural heritage and the elegance of its traditions.
Morocco shone during the Africa Day celebration held on Saturday evening in London, through a remarkable participation led by the Kingdom’s embassy to the United Kingdom.
The Moroccan caftan, a jewel of intangible cultural heritage, was honoured during the African fashion show. Its delicate embroidery, shimmering colours, and timeless elegance drew the admiration of participants from across the continent, projecting Morocco’s image far beyond the limits of the event.
A Moroccan stand organised by the embassy also enjoyed notable success, offering visitors a true immersion into Moroccan civilisation: its millennia-old history, craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and the values of hospitality and conviviality that define the Kingdom’s society.
At a deeper level, the evening provided an opportunity for speakers to recall the vision of the founding fathers of African unity and their ambition for a united, supportive, and prosperous continent. Held this year under the theme of Agenda 2063, with particular emphasis on sustainability, access to water, and sanitation, the event highlighted both the challenges and opportunities facing the continent in its pursuit of sustainable development.
Participants stressed the importance of African unity to amplify the continent’s voice on the international stage, calling for solidarity to be translated into concrete actions serving populations. Education and investment in human capital were also central themes, seen as essential for building an Africa grounded in dignity, resilience, and innovation.
Through this distinguished participation, Morocco reaffirmed its commitment to the ideals of cooperation and shared development in Africa, as well as its active role—under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI—in strengthening ties between the peoples of the continent.
