After the grand gathering of the Socialist International in Rabat, the USFP launches a new initiative within the framework of partisan diplomacy. This time in the ochre city. Indeed, on Friday, May 2, Marrakech is at the time of the 3rd Forum of Young Socialist and Social-Democratic Parliamentarians.

Coming from about thirty countries from all corners of the world, more than 120 deputies attended this event whose birth dates back three years. All current issues are on the agenda of this forum which aims to develop «progressive responses to the various challenges of the world», say the young deputies from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The latter is present at 50% at this forum. The challenge, says Abderrahim Chahid, president of the opposition Ittihadi parliamentary group in the first Chamber, is to strengthen networking among parliamentarians worldwide from the left-wing movement.

This forum, coordinated by USFP deputy Hassan Lachgar, focuses in particular on new geopolitical challenges related to peace and security, immigration and organized crime, but also climate change. In an off-the-record statement, Hassan Lachgar told us that this is a deep work that started years ago but has «gained depth by transforming from a network into a forum thanks to the efforts of the Rose party».

It should be noted, along the way, that this is the second time the Kingdom hosts this major international event, whose work will continue on Saturday, May 3, and will be concluded by the Marrakech declaration. Moreover, according to some insiders, it should be held again in Morocco in 2027. A «vote of confidence» regarding the Kingdom’s ability to be this essential crossroads between Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, both North and Latin. Thus, Morocco, by force of circumstances, confirms its positioning as a «center of international diplomacy», to quote the president of the Andean parliament, Gustavo Adolfo Pacheco Villar.
