For the first time in Morocco’s history, partnerships with ministerial sectors are strengthened to boost scientific research. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will provide 1,000 additional scholarships for doctoral research within companies, while the Ministry of the Interior offers 30 additional scholarships for research related to natural disaster risks. Moreover, the Ministry of Energy Transition proposes 550 additional doctoral scholarships in digital technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

This was announced on Monday, May 19, by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, during the general policy questions session at the House of Representatives.

The Head of Government mentioned these figures as part of the Executive’s program to promote the scientific research and innovation system. Akhannouch highlighted that “the government is working on the effective implementation of the doctoral cycle reform by adopting more than 245 doctoral programs, welcoming over 11,700 students for the 2024-2025 academic year, in fields linked to national development priorities.”

Furthermore, he added, «we continue implementing the national program to train 1,000 new-generation doctoral students through excellence research projects. These students are assigned pedagogical supervision tasks for directed and practical courses, in exchange for a net monthly scholarship of approximately 7,000 dirhams».

Additionally, to improve university study and research conditions, 220 university sites and residences across the Kingdom have been equipped with next-generation high-speed internet (WiFi 6), and digital educational content has been created on the Moodle platform in all Moroccan universities.

As part of this higher education system transformation, the «CODE212 » centers launched by the Ministry last year provide an innovative training space in digitization, aiming to equip students with digital and technological skills to meet new scientific challenges, the Head of Government emphasized.

This year, the Ministry of Higher Education adopted a unique mechanism tailored to the new generation’s characteristics by launching the «MyMoroccanUniv, the Smart Moroccan University » app for university students as part of the digital transformation of Moroccan universities.

Regarding the university’s openness to other actors and its environment, the government continues to support the innovation cluster program in partnership with other ministerial sectors. Projects to create three innovation clusters are planned at Hassan II, Ibn Tofail, and Moulay Ismail universities, in addition to the six existing clusters, with an investment exceeding 296 million dirhams.

Moreover, the «Tech Transfer» technology transfer program was launched, including 11 projects with a total budget of about 60 million dirhamsSearch results.
