After Casablanca, Marrakech-Menara Airport Removes Its Security Gates and Scanners
Following the successful experience in the white city, Marrakech-Menara Airport is relocating inspection devices (scanners and security gates) to the entrances. The goal is to eliminate long waiting lines and improve the traveler experience.

To enhance the traveler experience, Marrakech-Menara Airport is moving inspection devices (scanners and security gates) to the entrances, thereby eliminating long queues, according to an ONDA statement.
This measure adds to a series of improvements aimed at enhancing passenger flow efficiency, add the same source.
This advancement was made possible through the mobilization of various airport security authorities, including the Ministry of the Interior, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), and the Royal Gendarmerie.
Their coordination allowed for a rethinking of the control system while maintaining strict security standards.
To meet the growing demand at this airport, which is the primary entry point for millions of travelers worldwide, ONDA has already enhanced the airport’s capacity with dedicated improvements for better space and flow management. This includes increasing arrival waiting capacity and reorganizing specific control areas for international and domestic flights.
Additional human resources and equipment have been deployed to ensure rapid and efficient service. These actions have significantly reduced waiting times to under an hour on average. Several additional projects are planned to further reduce this time to half an hour and enhance passenger fluidity and satisfaction, including:
- Redesign of the departures area
- New management equipment
- Installation of e-gates
- Addition of new boarding gates
- Creation of a new departure lounge
«These measures are made possible through the mobilization of the Ministry of the Interior, the immigration and border surveillance directorate, the DGSN, the Royal Gendarmerie, customs services, and the services of the Marrakech wilaya», according to the ONDA statement.
These measures are part of ONDA’s «Airport 2030» strategy, aimed at meeting traveler expectations while continuing to develop infrastructure to support tourism and air connectivity growth in Morocco.
