The port gains two places compared to the previous edition and reaches the 17th position out of 500 ports, according to Alphaliner.
It records an 18.8% growth in traffic, the second highest in the global top 30, just behind the Long Beach/Los Angeles port complex (19,8%).
In 2024, Tanger Med handled 10,241,392 TEUs, a new record.
This performance results from the high level of productivity achieved by all teams.
It also stems from the commissioning of new equipment and the optimization of maritime stops.
This allows for reduced waiting and maneuvering times.
Tanger Med thus consolidates its status as a leader in Africa and the Mediterranean.
It is the only port on the continent and in the Mediterranean to feature in this prestigious ranking.
