Kenya: Akhannouch Represents His Majesty the King at the Africa Forward Summit
Aziz Akhannouch will also represent the Sovereign at the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Congo Basin Climate Commission, being held in the Kenyan capital.
The Head of Government, Mr Aziz Akhannouch, arrived in Nairobi on Sunday evening to represent His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the “Africa Forward” Summit, as well as at the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Congo Basin Climate Commission (CCBC) and the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin, scheduled for 11 and 12 May in the Kenyan capital.
Upon his arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Mr Akhannouch was welcomed by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Ruku; the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Abraham Korir Sing’Oei; and the Ambassador of the Kingdom to the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of South Sudan, Abderrazzak Laassel.
The Moroccan delegation attending these summits includes the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali; the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui; and the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence and the Evaluation of Public Policies, Karim Zidane.
It also includes a significant delegation from the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), led by its President, Chakib Alj, and comprising several actors from the Moroccan private sector.
The “Africa Forward” Summit brings together several Heads of State and Government to discuss prospects for strengthening partnerships between Africa and France.
The work of the summit will focus in particular on promoting balanced and concrete partnerships, with a special emphasis on joint investments, economic development, training, and shared responses to global challenges.
The 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the CCBC is being held ahead of the donors’ round table dedicated to the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin, scheduled for 26 May in Brazzaville. This high-level meeting is expected to endorse the resource mobilisation strategy, as well as the policy and technical documents resulting from the preparatory process.
