Fez-Meknes: More than 700 MDH for the realization of craft projects
Several projects are in the pipeline, including the creation of a permanent craft fair, an artisanal activity zone, and a National School of Traditional Arts…

A budget of more than 715 million dirhams (MDH) has been allocated for the realization of projects in the craft sector, within the framework of the Regional Development Program 2022-2027. According to data from the regional craft direction in Fez, this involves a total of 23 projects, of which 12 were approved in the first phase for a total amount approaching 399 MDH. The other projects, numbering 11, were validated in the second phase, for a total cost of nearly 316.2 MDH.
It involves, according to the same source, the creation of a permanent craft fair in Fez (50 MDH), an artisanal activity zone in Ain Bida (30 MDH), the National School of Traditional Arts in Fez (96 MDH), as well as the second phase of the extension and rehabilitation of the Specialized Institute of Traditional Arts (ISAT) in Fez (21 MDH).
These projects also include the completion of the construction of the complementary traditional tannery in Aïn Nokbi, Fez (3.5 MDH), the rehabilitation of the artisanal complex in Meknes (20 MDH), as well as the creation and equipment of the second phase of the artisanal complex in Sefrou (6 MDH). They also provide for the construction of a new artisanal complex in Boulemane (5 MDH) and the establishment, in a first phase, of artisanal activity zones dedicated to automotive trades in Fez, Meknes, Ifrane, and Boulemane (107.5 MDH).
It is also a matter of an integrated project for the promotion and development of the social and solidarity economy in the region (48 MDH), a support program in the field of social and solidarity economy (8 MDH), the promotion of the regional artisanal brand, as well as the development of an annual program for granting the collective authenticity certificate for artisanal products in the region (4 MDH).
Regarding the infrastructure aspect, it is planned to create artisanal activity zones dedicated to automotive trades (second phase) in El Hajeb, Moulay Yacoub, Sefrou, Taza, and Taounate (95 MDH), a regional program to support trainees in the craft sector, a regional program for training and developing artisans’ skills, as well as the creation of a pottery museum in Taounate.
The projects also include the creation of a clay treatment station and the rehabilitation of the internal alleys of the pottery and zellige activity zone in Benjellik, a clay treatment station in the Rmika artisanal zone in Meknes, assistance in improving the environmental conditions of the pottery and lime sectors through gas kilns (108.6 MDH), and a regional program for creating commercialization spaces for social economy products.
It is also a regional program for preserving artisanal trades threatened with disappearance within the framework of the «Moroccan Artisanal Treasures Program», support for initial training in jewelry at the ISAT in Fez, as well as support for initial training to encourage glass specialties at the ISAT in Meknes.
