Extractive Sector: Production Up 22% by End of November 2024
At the end of the first eleven months of 2024, the production of phosphate rock, a key component of the extractive sector, increased by 24.5%, compared to a decline of 10.8% the previous year, according to the DEPF in its recent conjuncture note.

The production of phosphate derivatives increased by 22% by the end of November 2024, compared to a decline of 3.7% the previous year, according to the Direction of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).
At the end of the first eleven months of 2024, the production of phosphate rock, a key component of the extractive sector, increased by 24.5%, compared to a decline of 10.8% the previous year, as stated by the DEPF in its recent conjuncture note.
On the external demand side for the sector, the exported volumes of crude phosphate and its derivatives continued to grow by double digits by the end of 2024, with a consolidation of 49% and 13.9%, respectively.
As for their value, it increased by 10.1% and 13.5%, following respective contractions of 42.2% and 32.5% a year earlier.
Thus, the revenues from phosphates and derivatives generated by the end of 2024 reached 86.8 billion dirhams, reflecting an increase of 13.1%, instead of a withdrawal of 33.6% a year ago.
Regarding shipments of other mining extractions, their value increased by 2.3% by the end of 2024, compared to a decline of 3.4% by the end of 2023.
