Aid Al-Adha: Import subsidies for sheep have reached 437 million dirhams
Almost 875,000 sheep have been imported, with the breakdown as follows: 386,000 heads in 2023 and 489,000 heads in 2024.

The government has implemented a subsidy to encourage the exceptional importation of sheep intended for Aid Al-Adha in 2023 and 2024.
The total cost of this operation has reached 437 million dirhams, distributed between 193 million dirhams in 2023 and 244 million dirhams in 2024.
In total, 875,000 sheep have been imported, including 386,000 in 2023 and 489,000 in 2024.
Importation has been opened to all importers meeting the required conditions.
Thus, there are 156 beneficiary importers, including 61 in 2023 and 95 in 2024.
To facilitate the operation, customs duties and VAT on sheep imports have been suspended, a measure still in effect.
These initiatives have ensured market supply, stabilized prices, and preserved the national livestock.
In a context marked by inflation and drought, the government has also established a subsidy of 500 dirhams per sheep intended for slaughter for Aid Al-Adha.
Finally, the suspension of customs duties and VAT did not impact the state budget, as these taxes, set at 200% in previous years,
were aimed solely at protecting the national livestock without generating re
venue for the public treasury.
