AFCON 2025-World Cup 2030: Aziz Akhannouch Chairs a Meeting of the Steering Committee for Stadium Projects
The committee notably took note of the progress in the construction of the Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane, which will be ready by December 2027, with the aim of hosting matches for the 2030 World Cup.

The Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch ,chaired on Thursday February 27, in Rabat, a meeting of the Steering Committee for the monitoring of sports stadium projects for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada, and the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa.
During this meeting, the Committee reviewed the progress of the development work on the nine stadiums that will host the final stages of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, in accordance with the set schedule. These stadiums are expected to be fully ready between March and August 2025.
The committee also took note of the progress in the construction of the Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane, in accordance with FIFA standards, which will be ready by December 2027 in preparation for hosting matches of the 2030 World Cup, which our country is organizing jointly with Spain and Portugal.
Aziz Akhannouch affirmed during the meeting that the government, in accordance with the High Royal Directives, is committed to pursuing the various sports infrastructure projects and ensuring all conditions necessary to guarantee the success of hosting the 2025 AFCON and the 2030 World Cup by our country.
