World Expo 2025: Osaka’s Celebration of Unity and Innovation

The World Expo 2025 is being hosted in Osaka, Japan, marking the second occasion for the city after its previous event in 1970. The opening ceremony took place on a Saturday, with a theme centered on “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba emphasized the importance of the event in fostering global unity amidst ongoing conflicts and trade disputes, especially in the post-coronavirus era. The ceremony was attended by approximately 1,300 guests, including the Japanese emperor. The expo features numerous futuristic exhibitions across various pavilions, showcasing innovations from around 180 participating countries, regions, and organizations. The previous World Expo in Osaka was a tremendous success, attracting 64 million visitors, a record that stood until it was surpassed by Shanghai in 2010. World expos serve as significant international platforms for showcasing innovation, culture, technology, and future-oriented ideas, with each nation constructing its own pavilion aligned with the overarching theme.
