Sinners: Jordan and Coogler’s Box Office Comeback

Published

Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler have released their new horror film, “Sinners,” which has already generated $4.7 million in Thursday previews at the box office. The R-rated vampire thriller is projected to earn between $45 million and $50 million during its opening weekend, with some estimates exceeding $50 million, while Warner Bros. has a more conservative projection of $35 million to $40 million. International ticket sales are expected to contribute an additional $10 million to $15 million, indicating a strong first weekend performance. Following previous disappointments with “The Alto Knights” and “Mickey 17,” Warner Bros. finds itself with two successful films, as “A Minecraft Movie” leads the box office as the highest-grossing film of the year with $283 million domestically and $557 million globally. “Minecraft” is anticipated to bring in $40 million to $45 million in its third weekend. In “Sinners,” Jordan portrays twin brothers, Smoke and Stack, who uncover a vampiric evil upon returning to their Southern hometown after World War I. The film features a cast that includes Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo, Jack O’Connell, and Wunmi Mosaku, marking Jordan’s fifth collaboration with Coogler.
