Marvel has officially announced the cast for the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday,” set to be released in theaters on May 1, 2026. The cast includes returning characters from previous Marvel films, such as Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Anthony Mackie as Captain America, alongside several stars reprising their roles from the “X-Men” franchise, including Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier and Ian McKellen’s Magneto. The film also introduces new characters from recent Marvel entries, featuring actors like Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic and Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman.
This marks the first Avengers film in six years, following the conclusion of the Infinity Saga with “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, which saw the departure of major characters like Iron Man and Captain America. Notably, Robert Downey Jr. returns to the Marvel universe portraying the villain Doctor Doom, a major shift in his character’s trajectory. The film will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously helmed key entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Upcoming Marvel releases also include “Thunderbolts” on May 2 and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” on July 25.
