About 200 artists from 15 countries, including Turkey, France, Spain, Switzerland, the Sultanate of Oman, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burundi, and Togo, will participate in this edition, with Italy as the guest of honor, according to the organizers.

The opening evening promises an exceptional scenographic and musical creation that will transport festival-goers through the centuries in an unprecedented immersion into different cultures.

The chosen theme «could not be more in line with Morocco’s unique positioning as a space for cultural, spiritual, and artistic renewal», emphasizes the statement, adding that «it also reflects the spirit of the festival, which, 28 years after its creation, continues to perpetuate the values of coexistence and tolerance inherent to the city of Fez, a major cultural and civilizational hub».

«The choice of our theme for this 28th edition is in line with the spirit of Fez, an open city and crossroads of civilizations, which continues to renew itself. Since its founding, Fez has played a pivotal role in cultural and religious renewal movements, significantly influencing exchanges between Mediterranean and African civilizations», explains Abderrafih Zouitene, President of the Spirit of Fez Foundation, as quoted in the statement.

According to the same source, the festival also strengthens its African dimension in this edition, which will pay tribute to Africa, «whose youth is aware of the need to celebrate its millennial traditions, preserve them, and ensure the transmission of its heritage to future generations, thus contributing to its perpetual cultural rebirth».

The presence of numerous artists from several major countries on the continent reinforces the festival’s and Morocco’s connection to their African roots and aligns with the Kingdom’s commitments to South-South cooperation.

Italy, the guest of honor at the 28th Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, perfectly embodies the theme of this edition, as the country played a central role in the cultural movement of the Renaissance that redefined Europe between the 14th and 17th centuries.

Florence, a city emblematic of this movement and uniquely twinned with Fez, will also be honored during this edition. As twin cities of art and spirituality, Fez and Florence symbolize the bridge established by the FFMSM between cultures and epochs.
